Sloan Flushmate® Valve Troubleshooting

Overview

IMPORTANT! Use only KOHLER Genuine Parts to avoid property damage and achieve optimal performance.

  • Refer to Standard Toilet Tank Troubleshooting if you have a standard toilet tank.
  • Refer to In-Wall Toilet Tank Troubleshooting if you have an in-wall toilet tank.
  • The components in your tank may look slightly different than those shown in the illustrations. The troubleshooting steps remain the same.
  • Follow the Corrective Actions for your particular troubleshooting problem.

The troubleshooting problems in this help topic include:

  • Poor Flush
  • No Flush
  • Water Runs Continuously

Poor Flush

  • Verify that the supply stop is fully open.
  • Observe the operation of the plunger arm when the toilet is flushed. Adjust as needed.
  • Adjust the gap between the actuator and the plunger arm to approximately 1/8” (3 mm).
  • Clean the screen with a medium or hard bristle brush. Replace the screen if necessary.
  • Clean under the bowl rim.
  • Use a plunger and auger to clear any blockage from the trap and waste line.

No Flush

  • Verify that the supply stop is fully open.
  • Tighten the trip handle nut by turning it counterclockwise.
  • Hook the plunger arm over the trip arm.
  • Clean the screen with a medium or hard bristle brush. Replace the screen if necessary.
  • Replace the inlet components.

Water Runs Continuously

  • Verify that the supply stop is fully open.
  • Adjust the gap between the actuator and the plunger arm to approximately 1/8” (3 mm).
  • Clean the screen with a medium or hard bristle brush. Replace the screen if necessary.
  • Repair or replace the plunger arm. Contact KOHLER Customer Care Center at us.kohler.com/general/contact.jsp or 1-800-456-4537.
  • Replace the lower supply group. Contact KOHLER Customer Care Center at us.kohler.com/general/contact.jsp or 1-800-456-4537.
  • Call Flushmate at 1-800-533-3450 for assistance.
