Water Continues to Run After Mixer Cap and PBU Installation

Bold_Look_of_Kohler.jpg

Refer to the information below for tips on parts installation for Rite-Temp Valves K-304, K-305, K-11748, K-306, or K-2971.

When installing a mixer cap and pressure balancing unit (PBU) for Rite-Temp Valves, ensure that the o-rings do not slip off of the PBU. If an o-ring is not aligned properly, it can cause water to constantly run from the shower head or tub spout. Applying silicone lubricant to the o-rings can help hold them in place when installing the PBU.

When installing the metal collar, make sure it is installed in front of the mixer cap, not in-between the mixer cap and PBU, as shown below for the K-304 replacement kit, part number GP76851. If it is installed between the mixer cap and PBU, the cap will not seal and will cause a constant run of water.
