Remove Mold or Stains from Inside a Toilet Tank

Refer to the directions below for removing mold or stains from the inside of a toilet tank.

  1. Empty water from the tank by turning off the water supply to the toilet and flushing the toilet.
  2. Scrub the inside of the tank with a nylon cleaning brush and a 50/50 ratio of water and chlorine. An alternative to chlorine is white vinegar.
  3. Thoroughly rinse tank with water to remove all residue before using the toilet.

CAUTION: Do not mix chlorine in the vicinity of acid.
