Bold_Look_of_Kohler.jpg

To remove the handle for the widespread Alterna bathroom faucet or Alterna bidet faucet, refer to the following directions.

Cube, Lever, and Post-1997 Square Handle

  1. Hold on to the handle while turning the handle base or skirt counterclockwise by hand or with a strap wrench, taking care to protect the finish.
  2. Remove any remaining components to expose the valve. Set all parts aside for re-use.
  3. The valve can now be replaced or other repairs made.
  4. Reassemble handle parts in reverse order.

Pre-1997 Square Handle

  1. Gently pry off the plug button in the center of the handle using a thin flat blade screwdriver, taking care to protect all finish surfaces.
  2. Unscrew the Philips screw holding the handle to the valve stem.
  3. Gently pull of the handle and any remaining components to expose the valve. Set all parts aside for re-use.
  4. The valve can now be replaced or other repairs made.
  5. Reassemble handle parts in reverse order.

Note: Remove mineral deposits with a 50/50 white vinegar and warm water solution.
