Some Kohler toilets use an attachment system for their seats called anchors. Normally these anchors do not need to be replaced when changing your toilet seat unless they have broken and the seat cannot be removed. The seat anchor kit (part number 84999) is for the removal of broken anchors and the installation of new ones. Refer to the directions below for replacement.

Follow the kit instructions for removing the old anchors, using the stabilization tool if the anchor is spinning. Once the old anchors have been removed, you will be ready to start the initial tightening of the new anchors.
- Slide the flat washer and lock washer onto the setting bolt as shown. Screw a replacement anchor onto the setting bolt until the flat washer is snug up against the lock washer (Fig. 1).
- Slide the assembled anchor through the opening in the anchor install arm (Fig. 2).
- With the assembled anchor positioned in the installation arm, slide the anchor into the anchor hold in the toilet as far as it will go. The installation arm should be tight against the toilet at this point (Fig. 3). Use a 7/16 inch socket to tighten the setting bolt until the anchor is compressed (Fig. 4).
- Unscrew and remove the setting bolt from the anchor. Remove both the flat washer and lock washer from the setting bolt and then reinstall the lock washer on the setting bolt.
- Place the installation arm around the head of the anchor making sure the installation arm is resting against the toilet.
- Screw the setting bolt and lock washer back into the anchor and tighten with the ratchet. (These tightening steps are very important since the tightening expands the anchor and allows the anchor and toilet seat to stay safely in place. Please do not skip any steps.)
- Once the anchors are completely tightened, remove the setting bolt and the lock washer. Now the toilet seat may be installed.
