Identify a Single Control Bath/Shower Valve

Single Control Bath/Shower Valve Identification

To identify the model number of your shower valve, first remove the trim, or handle and decorative plate. This allows you to expose the valve for proper identification. For assistance with removing the trim, refer to "Identify and Remove Single-Control Bath and Shower Trim".

Once the trim is removed, refer to the information below to identify your shower valve.

K-304-K-NA Rite-Temp Pressure Balancing Valve

  1. K-304 Identifying Characteristics:
  • Black mixer cap has 2 screws located at 3 and 9 o'clock that screw the cap to the brass valve body.
  • Features a red or black temperature limit stop attached to stem of the mixer cap.
  • The brass, round, splined stem rotates clockwise to turn on.
  1. K-304 Replacement Parts:
  • Mixer Cap GP77759 may resolve a constant leak from the showerhead or spout.
  • Pressure Balancing Unit (PBU) GP800820 may resolve temperature issues.
  • Complete repair kit (includes cap and PBU) GP876851

1307346 Rite-Temp Retro Fit Cap

  1. 1307346 Retro Cap Identifying Characteristics:
  • Black threaded mixer cap has 2 screws located at 3 and 9 o'clock that screw the cap to the brass valve body.
  • Features an orange temperature limit stop attached to stem of the mixer cap.
  • The brass, round, splined stem rotates clockwise to turn on.
  1. 1307346 Retro Cap Replacement Parts:
  • Mixer Cap 1307346 may resolve a constant leak from the showerhead or spout.
  • Pressure Balancing Unit (PBU) GP800820 may resolve temperature issues.

  • Note: The 1307346 cap allows for an existing K-304 valve to be compatible with certain trims.

K-8304-K-NA Rite-Temp Pressure Balancing Valve

  1. K-8304 Identifying Characteristics:
  • Black mixer cap has 4 screws located in a square pattern that screw the cap to the brass valve body.
  • Features an orange temperature limit stop attached to stem of the mixer cap.
  • The brass, round, splined stem rotates clockwise to turn on.
  1. K-8304 Replacement Parts:
  • Cartridge (GP800881) may resolve leaking from showerhead/spout or temperature issues.

K-305-K-NA or K-11748-K-NA Rite-Temp Pressure Balancing Valve with Diverter

  1. K-305 or K-11748 Identifying Characteristics:
  • Black mixer cap has 2 screws located at 3 and 9 o'clock that screw the cap to the brass valve body.
  • Features a red or black temperature limit stop attached to stem of the mixer cap.
  • The brass, round, splined stem rotates clockwise to turn on.
  • Push or push/pull diverter diverts water from the bottom port outlet to the top port outlet.

Note: The K-305 Rite-Temp Diverter Valve features a smooth diverter stem. The K-11748 features a threaded diverter stem. Reference the photo below for more detail.

  1. K-305 or K-11748 Replacement Parts:
  • Mixer Cap GP77759 may resolve a constant leak from the showerhead or spout.
  • Pressure Balancing Unit (PBU) GP800820 may resolve temperature issues.

  • K-305 smooth Diverter 89773 may resolve issues diverting water from spout to showerhead.

Note: The K-305 replacement diverter will actually be a threaded diverter. This is the correct replacement part, but is no longer smooth like the original.

K-306-KS-NA or K-2971-KS-NA HiFlow Rite-Temp Pressure Balancing Valve

 

  1. K-306 or K-2971 Identifying Characteristics:
  • Black mixer cap has 6 screws, three on top and three on the bottom.
  • Features a red temperature limit stop attached to stem of the mixer cap.
  • The brass, round, splined stem rotates clockwise to turn on.
  • Circular water shut offs are located on the left and right hand size of the brass body.
  1. K-306 or K-2971 Replacement Parts:
  • Mixer Cap 85500 may resolve a constant leak from the showerhead or accessory.
  • Pressure Balancing Unit (PBU) GP1144925 may resolve temperature issues.
  • K-306-KS-NA Service Parts  information.
  • K-2971-KS-NA Service Parts  information.

Note: The K-306 was discontinued in 2010. The valve had a PBU with smooth o-rings. The K-2971 has a PBU with notched o-rings. The PBU GP1144925 is interchangeable and used with both the K-306 and K-2971.

K-15700-K-NA or K-15701-K-NA Coralais Shower Valve

  1. K-15700-K-NA or K-15701-K-NA Identifying Characteristics:
  • Black mixer cap has 2 screws located at 3 and 9 o'clock that screw the cap to the brass valve body.
  • The square brass stem rotates clockwise to turn on.
  • Manufactured from 1997-2004.
  1. K-15700-K-NA or K-15701-K-NA Replacement Parts:
  • Mixer Cap GP77886 may resolve a constant leak from the showerhead or spout.
  • Pressure Balancing Unit (PBU) GP800820 may resolve temperature issues.
  • Complete repair kit (includes cap and PBU) 1372972
  • K-15700-K-NA Service Parts  information.
  • K-15701-K-NA Service Parts  information.

Note: The K-15700-K-NA does not have a Pressure Balancing Unit (PBU). When the mixer cap is removed, you will see brass behind it. The K-15701-K-NA uses a PBU. When the mixer cap is removed, the plastic PBU will be within the brass valve body.

K-15877-K-NA Coralais Shower Valve

  1. K-157877-K-NA Identifying Characteristics:
  • Mixer cap has 4 screws that secure it to the brass valve body.
  • The square, black plastic stem rotates counter-clockwise to turn on.
  • The body of the mixer cap may be grey plastic or black plastic.
  • Came with pressure balancing or without pressure balancing options.
  1. K-15877-K-NA Replacement Parts:
  • Mixer Cap GP71969 may resolve a constant leak from the showerhead or spout.
  • Pressure Balancing Unit, if included, (PBU) GP800820 may resolve temperature issues.

K-15153 or K-15155 Coralais Valve

  1. K-15153 or K-15155 Identifying Characteristics:
  • Cartridge features square metal stem.
  • Cartridge held in place by a bonnet.
  • Sculpted acrylic handle lifts up, then rotates left to right to adjust temperature.
  • Came as a pressure balanced and non-pressure balanced option.
  1. K-15153 or K-15155 Replacement Parts:
  • Valve cartridge GP30413 may resolve leaking from the showerhead or spout.
  • Pressure Balancing Unit (PBU), if included, GP800820 may resolve temperature issues.

Early Pressure Balancing Valve (No Specific Model Number)

  1. Early Pressure Balancing Valve Identifying Characteristics:
  • All brass mixer cap and valve body.
  • Mixer cap has 2 screws that secure it to the valve body.
  • The brass, round, splined stem rotates clockwise to turn on.
  • Sometimes referred to as "old 304" valve

Note: There are two different cap versions. A single-ribbed stem and a three-ribbed stem, as shown in the photo below.

  1. Early Pressure Balancing Valve Replacement Parts:
  • Brass Cap is discontinued for the single-ribbed and three-ribbed valves.
  • Three-ribbed brass cap can be replaced with plastic mixer cap GP77759. Writing on the trim may not match and depth of the valve must be considered to ensure trim is flush with finished wall.
  • Complete conversion kit, including mixer cap and PBU, GP876851, may work for three-ribbed valve.
  • Plunger kits may resolve constant steady leaking from the showerhead or tub spout. Single-ribbed valve: use plunger kit GP78579. Three-ribbed valve: use plunger kit GP78500.
